The Demopolis Times, a five-day-a-week newspaper in the City of the People, is seeking a top-notch sports/news reporter. We are seeking a candidate with a strong writing and editing ability as well as some training in layout and photography.

The successful candidate must be able to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines, show strong organizational skills, be able to thrive in a team environment and have an interest in sports and news. A commitment to helping us improve our product in both coverage and design while continuing to develop our Web site is expected. Schedule is flexible but will require nights and weekends.

The Tribune is an 8,000-circulation daily newspaper that covers prep sports activities from seven school districts, plus occasional features on recreational sports. The Tribune uses up-to-date newsroom technology and a new set of presses. The sports editor is responsible for pagination of sports pages, supervising a part-time sports reporter and making sure our print and online coverage is comprehensive, timely and relevant. Teamwork is a major aspect of working in our newsroom. Albert Lea is a scenic city of 18,000 people.
