Awards
In 2002, 2004 and 2007, the Madison County Record was named the Most Improved Small Weekly newspaper in the Alabama Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest. The paper was also named one of the top three small weeklies in the state in 2004.

Community Involvment
The Madison County Record leads by example in its community. It is actively involved with its two local Chambers of Commerce [Madison City and Madison County]. The Record works with many local high schools and colleges to produce their student newspapers, and many of its employees are active in local civic organizations, charitable groups and local churches.
