Market
Greenville has a good mix of industry and retail businsses. The city was honored in 2001 as the top small town in the United States by ePodunk.com, a national demographics Web site. A combination of timber and tourism (golf course and busiest Interstate exit between Birmingham and Mobile) keep Greenville busy.

Geographic location
Greenville is located 40 miles south of Montgomery on Interstate Highway 65.

Climate
Greenville residents enjoy a pleasant year-round climate, with long summers and mild winters.

Major employers
International Paper, WestPoint Stevens and CorStone are among the area's largest employers.

Education
Butler County public school system [K-12], three private schools [K-12] - Fort Dale Academy, Camellia Christian Academy.

Lurleen B. Wallace Junior College. The Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center, located near in the heart of Alabama's timber country, provides unique opportunities for forestry and wildlife research.

The Center was designed to house Auburn University's summer forestry education programs. It includes dormitories, dining facilities, an auditorium and classrooms to accommodate up to 120 students. Students attending the summer program learn about a wide range of forestry management situations.

Culture
Ritz Theater in downtown Greenville, built in 1935, was recently restored and hosts a number of plays, musicals, pageants and concerts.

Recreation
Sherling Lake Park offers camping and fishing; and Greenville is home of three golf courses, including Cambrian Ridge, a stop on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
